For Sale: 1964 Pontiac Tempest - $4,500

I’m posting this ad for my father who is selling his 1964 Pontiac Tempest builder that would make an excellent RMVR car or a clone of the famed 1971 Trans Am “Gray Ghost” (see the history on this website).

My father has owned the car since the 1970s where it was parked in the Southern California desert last registered in 1971. It is almost rust free aside from some small areas of rot in the rear passenger floor pan and around the rear window. He has a new stamped patch panel for the rear passenger pan. The quarters, rockers, fenders, hood, and deck lid look to be rust free. The car has never been wrecked, and the body is very straight for this vintage.

As the photos show, all the sheet metal is there. Most of the grille is inside the car, but some of the headlight components might be missing. The interior has largely been gutted. The original Pontiac 326 V8 and 3-speed manual transmission are missing, but they are still out there along with a possible de-stroked 389. The car has the original wheels with new tires and rolls easily.

He lost the title for the car many decades ago and has priced the car for bill-of-sale only. He may be willing to trailer the car to the CA Highway Patrol office that verifies VIN numbers to get a California title in his name, but you’ll need to discuss that with him.

He is asking $4,500 obo. The car is located near Merced, CA. If you are seriously interested in the car, please message me and I’ll put you in contact with my father who can send more photos and discuss the car more. Thanks for looking.
