For those who haven’t heard, May’s Velocity Invitational at Sonoma has been postponed until 2026. Velocity is one of the signature vintage/historic race events in the USA. Reportedly, at least 6 of the 16 F1 cars were withdrawn, most from overseas and involving major sponsors, due to deteriorating world economic conditions and USA trade/regulatory issues. The organizers may offer a more informal race weekend at Sonoma as a substitute.

The Velocity Invitational at Infineon Raceway-Sonoma is back for late May, 2026. Invited race groups are: 1956-1962 Production & GT Cars; 1957-1963 Formula Junior; 1960s Mini Vs Muscle Enduro; 1963-1969 Production GT Cars & 1963-1972 FIA Manufacturers Championship; 1966-1969 Formula B; 1966-1979 Historic SCCA B & C Sedans; 1972-1980 IMSA GT, GTX, AAGT (FIA Group 4); and 1994-2019 IMSA, Le Mans Endurance Cars. This is a fabulous event, featuring fabulous cars, and Sonoma is one of the truly great tracks of North America. If you have an appropriate historic racecar, consider applying. It’s great fun.
Truthfully, Rich, while Soboma is a fantastic facility, Velocitys entry fee might be a bit rich for the majority. CSRGs David Love Memorial might be a bit more managable.
